Tarrant County Democrats Launch Formal Endorsement Program for Local Races and Propositions

Party expands from recommendations to official endorsements across municipal, school board and ballot measures

FORT WORTH, Texas — The Tarrant County Democratic Party announced it will begin issuing formal endorsements for candidates and ballot propositions in the May municipal election. The move builds on theParty’s long-standing role of providing trusted recommendations to voters and expanding into a more structured endorsement process across local elections.

“People across Tarrant County consistently look to us as a trusted voice and authority,” said Chairwoman Allison Campolo, Ph.D. “Every election cycle, we receive a good amount of calls to our Headquarters from voters and stakeholders asking for guidance. In fact, folks have already reached out to us for thoughts on the upcoming May election. These endorsements are a natural extension of that trust.”

The Party’s upcoming endorsements will include some select city council, school board races, bond proposals, charter amendments and other propositions. These are areas historically considered nonpartisan, but increasingly shaped by policy decisions with broader political implications.

“In today’s often polarized political environment, so-called nonpartisan office holders are making decisions that are anything but neutral,” said Anthony Rojas, Chairman of the Party’s Nonpartisan Committee. “We’re seeing votes on issues like redistricting, limiting public comment and decisions being made on policies that undermine inclusive programs. Tarrant County voters deserve clarity on where candidates stand.”

Party officials emphasized that endorsements will be grounded in principals often outlined in the Democratic Party platform and supported through strategic, coordinated grassroots outreach.

“Our platform reflects deeply held values, and when those beliefs are at stake, we will engage,” said Executive Director Reyne Telles. “Through our grassroots organizing and ability to reach tens of thousands of voters and our extensive network of hundreds and hundreds of precinct chairs, we will ensure voters in impacted cities
and areas will have the information they need to make informed decisions. Using our infrastructure, we can better ensure that these endorsements are a meaningful and effective tool.”

The Party also noted that it has long provided recommendations on some races and issues, noting that the new approach will now evolve into a more formal endorsement process.

The Party encourages voters to stay tuned as endorsements begin to roll out in the coming weeks ahead of the May municipal elections.
