Commissioner Alisa L. Simmons serves as Tarrant County Commissioner for Precinct 2, representing a diverse stretch of southeast Tarrant County including Arlington, Mansfield, Kennedale, Benbrook and more. A lifelong community advocate and public-safety professional, she was elected to the Commissioners Court in 2022 and began her term on January 1, 2023. Before county service, Simmons led the Arlington NAACP for nearly a decade (2014–2023), championing voting rights, youth empowerment, and equitable opportunity across our communities. On the Court, she is a consistent voice for fair representation, safe neighborhoods, and responsive county government. Today, we welcome Commissioner Simmons—civil rights champion, bridge-builder, and proud North Texas mom—to honor the legacy of Dr. Opal Lee and to call us higher in service and justice.
