SCOTUS Roe Decision

Tarrant County, TX- Today, the decision to take away a constitutional right from people across the country has been made real. This Supreme Court decision leaves Texans at the mercy of an increasingly authoritarian extremist political party. Texas will become exponentially more dangerous with the activation of our “trigger” law. Overturning Roe is the beginning volley in a series of ongoing attacks to Texans personal freedom.

Statement from Tarrant County Democratic Party Chair Dr. Allison Campolo: 

“We are here because we did not invest enough in our future. We assumed some rights were ingrained, now that we’d won them. They’re not. Everything is on the table under the new Republican regime. We are here because Republicans stole 2 of our Supreme Court seats in a 4 year span. We are here because our new Supreme Court Justices lied. We are here because we didn’t do anything about it. But -We don’t have to do nothing now. Our rights aren’t protected by our judicial branch, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be protected by our legislative ones. We can save ourselves.”

Sending fearless leaders ready to fight to codify abortion at the federal, state, and local level must be all freedom loving citizens top priority in light of this terrible rollback of rights by SCOTUS. Relentless attacks require our ongoing, active opposition. Defending democracy. It is what Dems do.
