One purpose of the Tarrant County Democratic Party is to inform and empower voters. For that reason, I would like to highlight two right-wing extremist groups currently operating in Tarrant County who are actively engaging in the upcoming local elections. It is important for voters to be aware of the candidates these groups are supporting so they can make informed voting decisions. The two specific groups I am highlighting are Patriot Mobile Action and the True Texas Project.

Patriot Mobile Action was founded in 2022. On its website, the group claims that their mission is to “stand for Christian conservative values.” Since their founding, PMA has poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into school board races all over Tarrant County. The school board members PMA money has helped elect have gone on to impose draconian book bans in schools, engaged in right-wing culture wars with Tarrant County children serving as background props, masterminded the secretive and undemocratic Keller ISD split attempt, and generally supported an anti-public education agenda.

The True Texas Project is a right-wing group so extreme that the Southern Poverty Law Center included them on their national list of extremist groups. As reported by local press, TTP has hosted at least one conference in Tarrant County with panels discussing The Great Replacement Theory, a racist conspiracy theory that claims there is an ongoing plot to diminish the power of white people in society. The group includes on its website a list of “recommendations” for local Tarrant County races, as well as explicitly endorsed candidates. TTP also recently sponsored an election event in at least one local city where they invited select candidates to attend.

Voters who align with democratic values respecting the separation of church and state, support for public education, and a prioritization of responsive, transparent government should think hard before voting for a True Texas Project-recommended or endorsed candidate. The same warning applies to candidates who have received Patriot Mobile Action support now or in the past.

The following table is meant to help identify specific candidates who are receiving or have received explicit or passive support from these two groups
