FORT WORTH, TEXAS — The Tarrant County Democratic Party today announced a historic milestone: more than 310 active precinct chairs, the highest number in more than eight years and, for the first time, surpassing the number listed publicly by the county Republican Party.
This record-setting growth comes as Democrats in Tarrant County build on unprecedented momentum following a widely celebrated and robust slate of candidates for the March 2026 Primary. The surge reflects a grassroots infrastructure that is deeper, more energized and more organized than at any point in recent memory.
“This is what real momentum looks like,” said Dr. Allison Campolo, Chair of the Tarrant County Democratic Party. “Our precinct chairs are the backbone of our operation, and their commitment is what will carry our candidates to victory in November 2026.”
Precinct chairs serve as the foundation of the Democratic Party at the neighborhood level. Elected or appointed to two-year terms, they organize their communities, recruit volunteers and drive voter turnout. They also serve on the County Executive Committee, help support candidates up and down the ballot, assist with election operations and act as trusted messengers of Democratic values.
Their impact is already being felt across Tarrant County:
- Over 132 new precinct chair applications have been submitted since July 1, 2025, compared to just 30 applications in each of the previous two cycles combined
- More than 30,000 voter contacts were made in February alone heading into the 2026 Primary
- More than 10,000 voter contacts were made in January during a single State Senate runoff election effort
“This level of organizing does not happen by accident,” said Reyne Christopher Telles, Executive Director of TCDP. “It is the result of disciplined, sustained work by people who care deeply about their communities and the future of this county. We are building something that is not only competitive, but durable. There are a key-handful of folks who have worked so hard to make this happen; it would not have happened without them.”
The Tarrant County Democratic Party is continuing to expand its grassroots network and is actively encouraging community members to get involved.
