Statement from our Tarrant County Democratic Party Chair

Today is not only a day for the history books but it is a day to celebrate the joy and promise of our great Democratic Party because today our party announced that a daughter of immigrants will be at the top of her ticket and run for Vice President.

Senator Kamala Harris is the second African-American woman and the first Indian-American to serve in the United States Senate. Next January she will become the first Female vice president of these United States of America.

The fact that Senator Harris is the daughter of immigrants speaks to the promise of these United States of America and is a direct repudiation of trumps anti-immigrant and anti-black attitudes.

We had the privilege of having Senator Harris here in Tarrant County last year and she not only electrified us but she inspired us. Her qualifications are extraordinary. Her commitment to win is legendary. She’s a leader and we are lucky to have her on our ticket!
